Lester Aldridge takes part in Apprentice Workshop at Avonbourne 6th form
Two of Lester Aldridge’s apprentice’s spent their Friday morning with students from Avonbourne 6th Form at an Apprenticeship workshop arranged by Dorset Young Chamber. Rebecca Martin and Katie Harris attended the workshop to discuss the advantages of an apprenticeship scheme with the students.
Apprenticeships have become increasingly popular with 509,400 apprenticeship starts in England in 2015/2016, up from 871,000 the previous year.
Rebecca Martin, in her second year of an accounting apprenticeship at Lester Aldridge, says, “I initially wanted to do an apprenticeship to get more hands on experience instead of only studying in the class room. Lester Aldridge was my first choice because they are such a well-established company. “
Katie Harris, an apprentice in business services, has worked closely with both our HR and Compliance teams and commented, “It has been great to talk about why an apprenticeship is a viable alternative to university to the students at Avonbourne.”
Lester Aldridge recently renewed their Business Partnership with Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry. As part of this we work closely with the Dorset Young Chamber team to bridge the gap between education and employment.
