Apprentices at full service law firm Lester Aldridge are celebrating National Apprenticeship week, which runs from 4th-8th March 2019.

The firm currently employs five apprentices across a variety of business support and fee earning teams. Current apprenticeships include Business Administration and Accounting.

Benefits of an apprenticeship

Apprenticeships offer people the opportunity of gaining a qualification through on-the-job training, which offer a range of benefits for both the employee and the employer.

Apprenticeships offer the opportunity to:

  • Work with experienced staff as a valued team member;
  • Develop job-specific skills;
  • Earn a wage and receive the benefits of being an employee such as holiday pay;
  • Be given time to study alongside their job – most apprentices attend college one day a week;
  • Gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Stats released by the Government reveal that over 90% of apprentices currently go into work or further training.

Apprentice feedback

Shannon Freeman, who is based within the Compliance team at Lester Aldridge, said: “So far in my apprenticeship I have enjoyed the hands on experience that sixth form wouldn’t have given me and feel like it has given me more confidence. I have also enjoyed working as part of a team and meeting new people.”

Meghan Franklin, who recently started her apprenticeship with the Real Estate team based in Bournemouth, said: “I have really settled in well at LA and I am so grateful for the team around me who have made me feel so welcome. I’m really enjoying getting stuck in and being more practical. It’s an amazing experience and I really enjoying working in the real estate department and learning new things every day.”
