We recently published an article setting out the regulators’ position on the regulation of healthcare professionals in light of Covid-19. Since then, the position in the UK has changed significantly and the pressure on the healthcare system is increasing day by day.
We have seen some sensible decisions being made to support healthcare professionals on the front line. The latest of which includes the decision of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) postponing most hearings from 18 March until 6 July 2020. Some hearings, such as interim hearings, may need to be dealt with over Skype or on the papers. Those involved in hearings during this time, will be contacted.
It is anticipated that other regulators will follow suit, to enable healthcare professionals to prioritise their involvement in assisting with the outbreak.
We will continue to closely monitor the situation and keep in close contact with our clients as the position develops.
