The Chancellor has announced that the ‘furlough’ scheme has been extended for a further month, until the end of April 2021.
Despite previous comments that the terms of the scheme were likely to be altered at the end of January in accordance with a commitment to review how it was working; he has also confirmed that the government will continue to meet 80% of the wages of furloughed workers up until the end of this further extended period.
