Lester Aldridge advised CherYsh Impact UK on its establishment and successful registration as a charity in England and Wales. Working closely with the trustees, our team helped create a governance and operational framework to support the charity’s mission of tackling poverty overseas while satisfying the Charity Commission’s stringent registration standards.
The Challenge
CherYsh Impact UK was established to support the prevention and relief of poverty through international charitable grant-making.
The trustees wanted to create a UK charity that could support projects overseas while maintaining strong governance, in compliance with Charity Commission requirements. With plans to make grants internationally and work alongside organisations in other jurisdictions, which came with a level of operational risk, they needed a structure that would enable them to achieve their charitable aims while meeting regulatory expectations.
To help establish a strong case that the charity’s future activities were exclusively charitable and for the public benefit under English law, the trustees sought specialist legal advice and support.
How We Helped
We worked closely with the trustees throughout the charity’s establishment and registration process.
Our team advised on the charity’s governing document, objects, governance arrangements and trustee responsibilities. We also supported the preparation of the Charity Commission application and accompanying documentation, helping to ensure the charity’s purposes, activities and governance framework were clearly articulated.
Given the charity’s international focus, we provided guidance on overseas grant-making, risk management, due diligence procedures and relationships with connected organisations operating abroad. We also advised on governance measures designed to promote independence, accountability and effective oversight.
By taking the time to understand the charity’s long-term objectives, we helped develop a governance and operational framework that supported its ambitions while providing confidence that regulatory requirements had been addressed.
The Outcome
In August 2026, CherYsh Impact UK was successfully registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
The registration provides the charity with a robust UK platform from which to advance its mission of preventing and relieving poverty through international grant-making and charitable partnerships. The trustees are now well positioned to grow the charity’s fundraising activities and support initiatives that help rural women and children achieve greater educational, economic and social opportunities.

“It was a pleasure to support the trustees in establishing CherYsh Impact UK. From the outset, they had a clear vision of creating opportunities for disadvantaged communities through education, empowerment and sustainable development. We’re delighted to have helped them secure charitable status and look forward to seeing the positive impact the charity will have on the lives of women and children in the years ahead.”
