Since our last annual update we have had a change in government, following which a new raft of employment changes are planned to take effect over the next 12 – 18 months. Employers need to be aware of and understand how best to prepare for these changes, in addition to grappling with all the changes which came into force after our last update, especially relating to flexible working and tackling sexual harassment.

Employment Tribunal cases and awards have continued to rise, with a number of important cases decided over the course of last year, many of which are likely to have implications for the day-to-day management of HR issues. The economic climate also remains fragile with potential redundancies and recruitment freezes as a result of the increasing costs of employing staff, which will put increased pressure on existing workers and employment relations.

Our seminar will cover all these issues with:

• how to prepare and manage the anticipated legislative changes proposed in the Employment Rights Bill,
• top tips for handling immigration and right to work issues
• data protection considerations in the recruitment process and during employment
• practical tips for implementing effective probationary and absence management.
