Recent work
- Acting for a client who suffered serious and multiple orthopaedic injuries to her leg and ankle in a road traffic accident (RTA). She also suffered a significant psychological injury. The parties worked collaboratively to settle a Joint Settlement Meeting to achieve a settlement at £900,000.
- Acting for a client who suffered orthopaedic injuries to his leg in an RTA requiring extensive surgery. He endured a lengthy and challenging rehabilitation process. He has been left with a permanent limp and reduced mobility as a result of the injury. Psychologically, he was unable to return to his pre-accident place of work and was forced to take alternative employment, which did not afford him the same pre-accident benefits. The claim settled for £130,000 against an initial offer of just £50,000.
- Acting for a widow whose husband’s cause of death was mesothelioma. The claimant had a life interest in the deceased’s estate and brought a claim for care provided to the deceased before his death and a dependency claim. The claimant brought a claim under the Fatal Accidents Act as the dependents of the deceased can bring such claims for loss of support. The three potential defendants complicated the matter. All defendants fully denied breach of duty. The case was litigated, and a post-issue offer of £130,000 was made, which, given the full denial, the claimant was delighted to accept.
