James studied a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Bristol and subsequently completed his Legal Practitioners Course at the University of Law. He also completed a Masters in Professional Legal Practice.
James specialises in Clinical Negligence claims against NHS Trusts, private medical professionals and dentists. James has experience working on a wide range of claims including but not limited to: orthopaedic claims, consent claims, claims involving a delay in diagnosis, dentistry claims, birth injury claims and fatal claims.
Recent examples of work or case studies:
- DS v Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust – Clinical Negligence – DVT claim. Acting on behalf of a Claimant who suffered a Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) following a failure to provide adequate prophylaxis (preventative medication). The Claimant injured his ankle in a fall and underwent surgery. After the surgery, his foot was immobilized but there was a failure to provide adequate prophylaxis and he developed a DVT. He is now at greater risk of developing further DVTs in the future.
- LK v XYZ NHS Foundation Trust – Clinical Negligence – Delay in diagnosis of cancer claim. Acting on behalf of a Claimant whose breast cancer was missed on a routine annual MRI scan which resulted in a delay in treatment of 1 year.
- NR v Dr VR – Clinical Negligence – Dental claim. Acting on behalf of a Claimant whose dentist failed to adequately carry out a filling procedure on several of occasions. The Claimant had to undergo 3 revision procedures, had to attend the dentist 7 times before the filling was correctly placed, and suffered avoidable pain throughout this period.
