Lester Aldridge is sad to announce the death of Jane Porter on Friday 5th February.
Jane was a partner in the Family team for 21 years before working as a consultant at the firm.
Jane studied History and Politics at the University of Exeter before becoming a solicitor. Following university, she joined a prominent law firm in Surrey and after qualifying in 1986, she was quickly promoted to Partner. In 1999, she moved to the south coast to raise her two daughters and joined Lester Aldridge. She swiftly made a name for herself as a formidable family lawyer. She was well liked and highly respected across the legal profession for her focus, determination and meticulousness. On becoming head of family law at LA, she grew a team that became very highly regarded and Jane herself had a stellar reputation.
Jane was passionate about her work and was one of the early exponents of mediation in family law, which she practised with a sympathetic manner while retaining a professional perspective.
While work was very important to Jane, she still found time to enjoy being with her family and friends. She enjoyed walking, especially with her dog, and had a real love for music of all genres, regularly visiting Ronnie Scott’s with her partner, Marc.
Jane had a long career at LA and will be missed by everyone that knew her. We naturally offer our deepest condolences to Marc, her two daughters and wider family and friends.
