Maddy regularly advises and supports providers on a variety of regulatory matters and across a range of regulated settings, including nursing homes, residential homes, services for individuals with special needs, and children’s homes and supported living accommodation.

Maddy is heavily involved in supporting care providers through the inquest process in the Coroner’s Court and supports witnesses in highly sensitive proceedings. She takes the time to explain the coronial process to staff members and vulnerable witnesses and is sympathetic to the challenges that inquests present for Interested Persons. She assists witnesses in drafting statements for the Court and has experience in working with care provider directors, providing reassurance to Coroners in terms of Prevention of Future Deaths, where there may be adverse risks to providers and their commercial and reputational interests.

Maddy also assists care provider clients in dealing with and responding to complex family complaints, including concerns regarding escalation of medical assistance and end of life care and treatment. She assists clients in navigating the CQC factual accuracy process, and regulatory action and enforcement.

Maddy’s experience extends to supporting children’s care providers with the Ofsted registration and refusal process. She has experience in drafting comprehensive and complex Representations to Ofsted and assisting providers in submitting complaints, following draft reports being published for children’s homes and supported accommodation settings.

She is recognised by clients for her empathy, organisational skills, and excellent client care.

Maddy qualified as a solicitor in September 2025 following her two-year training contract with the firm, completing seats in our Real Estate Finance, Tax, Trusts, & Wills, and Healthcare teams.

Prior to joining the firm, Maddy worked for a not-for-profit company as a caseworker, helping victims of domestic abuse and violence obtain emergency legal injunctions, assisting them with their court applications, and navigating through the legal aid system.

Recent work

  • Supporting a national care provider through a highly sensitive seven-day inquest, supporting witnesses by attending the Coroner’s Court, supporting counsel, and drafting statements to avail Prevention of Future Death concerns.
  • Drafting Representations to Ofsted where a proposed provider and proposed manager of a supported accommodation undertaking had received Notices of Proposal to refuse registration. The submission was successful, and both provider and manager received their certificates of registration, going on to continue to provide supported accommodation services to the most vulnerable young people in society including unaccompanied child asylum seekers.
  • Assisting a national care provider with the CQC factual accuracy process, reviewing evidence from the client and drafting factual accuracy comments. The care home went from a draft “Inadequate” rating to a “Good” overall rating, with “Outstanding” for the key question Well-Led.
