Melanie is a practitioner with over 20 years’ experience in private client matters. She acts for individuals and families in administering estates, preparing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, court of protection applications and advising on issues affecting vulnerable people, both domestically and in cross-border jurisdiction situations.
Melanie has also worked with national and local charities in maximising their legacy income.
In this area of law, the team often deal with matters that are very personal to clients. Melanie offers clients a practical, sensitive and empathic approach to their situation.
Recent examples of work or case studies:
- Applying to the Court of Protection for a court order from a different legal jurisdiction relating to a vulnerable person’s assets to be recognised in England and Wales;
- Administering the financial affairs of a client who is a patient of the Court of Protection;
- Drafting wills to provide for vulnerable beneficiaries;
- Applying for letters of administration where the deceased is the subject of a clinical negligence claim.
Melanie has been with Lester Aldridge since 1997 and is an Associate in the Tax Trusts, Wills and Probate Team. She qualified both as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and as a CILEx Probate Practitioner in 2018. She is an associate member of Solicitors for the Elderly.
