The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) launched new Transparency Rules in December 2018. The aim of the rules is to ensure consumers and businesses have the relevant information they need to make an informed choice when purchasing certain types of legal services. Whilst all Partners are qualified solicitors and members of Lester Aldridge LLP, not all people working for us, or on your matters, are solicitors. They are collectively known as fee earners. To assist you to better understand the roles of those at LA who are likely to carry out work on your matter, please visit our directory or find a brief description as follows:

  • Partner: A solicitor and member of Lester Aldridge LLP
  • Director: A senior fee earner who is not necessarily a solicitor
  • Associate: A senior fee earner who is not necessarily a solicitor who may be working towards being a Director or Partner
  • Solicitor: Admitted to practise under the provisions of the Solicitors Act 1974
  • FCILEX: Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
  • Trainee Solicitor: A fee earner undergoing an SRA approved training contract to become a Solicitor and who has passed compulsory professional examinations
  • Conveyancer: A fee earner with no formal legal qualifications who has however demonstrated the ability to conduct relevant work and is a very experienced paralegal
  • Paralegal: A fee earner with no formal legal qualifications who has however demonstrated the ability to conduct relevant work
  • Case Handler: A fee earner with no formal legal qualifications who has however demonstrated the ability to conduct relevant work.
