Personal injury compensation claims fall into many categories. At Lester Aldridge, we act in relation to all types of injury claims, including the unusual. We offer real expertise in handling personal injury claims at all levels and utilise our expertise to maximise levels of compensation.

Other types of injury claims Include:

Accidents at work

581,000 workers sustained a non-fatal injury according to self-reports from the Labour Force Survey in 2018/19 (LFS). Of those, some 29% were slips, trips or falls. 20% of injuries resulted from lifting, handling or carrying. 10% from moving objects. In 2018/19, 147 workers were killed at work.

Britain’s most dangerous industries are said to be agriculture, forestry and fishing, construction, manufacturing, along with transport and storage. Many workplace accidents are avoidable. Where you or a loved one has suffered an injury at work which you feel should not have happened, you may be entitled to compensation.

Compensation in a successful claim will not only cover your loss of earnings, but in addition, any financial losses which have been incurred as a direct result of the matters complained of both past and future. In addition, compensation can be awarded for your injuries.

At Lester Aldridge, our team of personal injury lawyers are highly skilled and experienced in the investigation and conduct of compensation claims resulting from workplace accidents.

Amputation injury

Amputations are one of the most serious and debilitating forms of injury. The loss of a limb produces immense pain and emotional suffering, and it can impact one’s ability to earn a living or enjoy everyday activities.

Amputation compensation claims frequently result from:

  • Accidents at work
  • Car accidents
  • Motor cycle accidents
  • Cycle accidents

Amputation injuries in the workplace frequently occur in industrial or construction areas of work, such as building sites, warehouses, farms and those who work with dangerous machinery. The cause of these injuries is often due to a lack of safety mechanisms being implemented, inadequate training, and inadequate or lack of personal protective equipment.

Any serious road traffic accident, whether it involves a car, cycle or motorbike, can result in an amputation injury. If you or a loved one has suffered an amputation or loss of a limb due to another person’s negligence, you may be entitled to compensation.

Our personal injury solicitors are highly experienced in investigating and taking forward compensation claims where an amputation has occurred or has proved necessary.

Cycle accidents

According to RoSPA, around 80% of cycling accidents occur in daylight which is when most cycling takes place. The most dangerous hours for cyclists are 3.00 to 6.00 p.m. and 8.00 to 9.00 a.m. on weekdays. When a cycling accident is caused by another person, you will be able to claim compensation for your injuries if you can show that they were responsible for the collision. A road accident can occur because of any number of reasons.

Most accidents occur mainly because of someone’s negligence (drivers using a mobile phone, eating or drinking at the wheel, changing music in the car, or to them being under the influence of alcohol or drug consumption while driving). Weather conditions can also play a part in driver recklessness or even poor road maintenance.

Our personal injury solicitors (many of whom are cycle enthusiasts) are highly experienced in investigating and taking forward brain injury compensation claims resulting from a cycle accident.

Mesothelioma from asbestos exposure

Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that develops from the thin layer of tissue that covers many of the internal organs (known as the mesothelium). The most common area affected is the lining of the lungs and chest wall. Asbestos exposure is the main cause of pleural mesothelioma.

About 8 out of 10 people with mesothelioma have been exposed to asbestos. When asbestos fibres are breathed in, they travel to the ends of small air passages and reach the pleura, where they can cause inflammation and scarring. If you have developed mesothelioma as a result of your employment and exposure to asbestos, you may be entitled to compensation.

At Lester Aldridge, we have significant experience in winning high levels of compensation from industrial employers for mesothelioma patients and their families.

Motorcycle accidents

According to The Police Foundation, In Great Britain in 2016, over 19,297 motorcyclists were injured in reported road accidents. From this, 319 bikers were killed, and 5,553 were seriously injured. The single most dangerous situation for motorcyclists occurs when cars are making turns. These collisions account for 42% of all accidents involving a motorcycle and car. Usually, the turning car strikes the motorcycle when the motorcycle is going straight through a junction.

An analysis by Brake, the Road Safety charity, suggests that those on two wheels are significantly more vulnerable than car drivers. They are 34 times more likely to be killed and 63 times more likely to be seriously injured per mile travelled on British roads.

With access to first-class accident reconstruction experts and extensive knowledge and experience in this area, we are well-placed to take forward a successful compensation claim.

Military accident claims

Military accidents are commonplace and frequently occurring. They often result from unsafe working practices or result from defective equipment. Military personnel can bring a compensation claim where an injury has occurred as a result of a military accident or injury in any number of circumstances including injuries resulting from:

  • Training accidents
  • Unsafe working practices
  • Defective military equipment
  • Noise-induced hearing loss cases
  • Fatal accidents
  • Road traffic accidents during manoeuvres
  • PTSD
  • Clinical Negligence
