Luke joined LA in September 2013 having successfully completed his Legal Practice Course at BBP Law School, Leeds. Luke commenced his training contract at LA in September 2016 and qualified into the International Private Client team in March 2018. Luke specialises in the administration of domestic and foreign estates for both UK and offshore clients.
Luke attends to the administration of US and Canadian securities, including obtaining IRS Federal Tax Clearance, Medallion Signature Guarantees and the recovery of state escheated assets.
He assists a number of professional executors and trust companies in resealing foreign grants of probate in a number of commonwealth jurisdictions, preparing offshore Wills and administering assets registered in the British Isles (including Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man). Luke also assists a number of offshore clients with cross-border tax issues and the administration of assets registered in mainland Europe.
Recent examples of work or case studies:
- Attending to the administration of a Dutch domicile estate where the deceased held assets in the US. Applying for translated and apostilled court documents, IRS Federal Tax Clearance and Medallion Signature Guarantees.
- Attending to an England and Wales domicile estate where the deceased passed away in Peru with assets held in Jersey and England. Applying for the necessary grants and administering the assets held within those jurisdictions.
- Attending to a Scottish domicile estate where the deceased held various shareholdings in Singapore. Applying to reseal the Scottish Confirmation and attending to the subsequent administration of the stock through the overseas transfer agent.
