At Lester Aldridge, we understand that rehabilitation following a severe injury is as important as getting you the compensation you need.

Our team of personal injury lawyers understand what a difference the right rehab will make to your recovery, both physically and emotionally.

This benefit may extend to others, making your family life more manageable and shifting the focus of your loved ones who, up to this point, may have been providing you with care. In addition, it can help you get back to work more quickly and regain the independence you may have felt you had lost.

Our Personal Injury team has established links and contacts with rehabilitation providers nationwide. In addition, we work with case managers, treatment providers and charities who will all be able to help and support you with your recovery.

And while you get the treatment you need, we are working on your case!

See below examples of how David Healy and our PI team have helped, and continue to help our clients and the vast difference this can make:

Case study – Mr K

Our client was involved in a very serious RTA. He sustained a spinal cord injury which has rendered him paraplegic. He also suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and serious orthopaedic injuries.

Our client was taken immediately to the hospital, where he remained for two months. Unfortunately, he could not complete the initial rehabilitation phase due to the worsening impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Following his discharge, Lester Aldridge worked to instruct a specialist case manager to carry out an immediate needs assessment to determine the services and treatment required to get our clients’ rehabilitation back on track.

Following receipt of the report, we liaised with the defendant’s insurer to secure funding for our client to be admitted to a specialist unit for the vital in-patient rehabilitation he required. Here, our client was able to access a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) consisting of a consultant in spinal injuries, a neuropsychologist, an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist and a team of nurses. This input was vital to our client’s progress. Following discharge six weeks later, the client had continued assistance from his case manager to support his rehabilitation and a private MDT to ensure that the services and treatment continued to be delivered properly. As a result, our client continues to recover from his injuries with the ongoing support of his MDT to ensure this process runs as smoothly as possible.

Case study – Mr W

Our client was involved in a serious road traffic collision. At the time of the crash, he was 22, working full-time and living independently.

As a result of the collision, our client sustained life-threatening injuries, requiring a 6-week stay in hospital and a 6-week stay in a rehabilitation centre. On discharge back to the care of his family, it was evident that our client required further rehabilitation and support.

In this case, it was necessary to quickly appoint a case manager to establish a rehabilitation programme for our client. A multi-disciplinary team was set up to include; a neuropsychologist, occupational therapist, neuro-physiotherapist, neuropsychiatrist, and speech and language expert. Our client also receives assistance from two support workers who help him with daily tasks.

Our client has significantly benefited from this rehabilitation programme, and whilst he will never regain the full cognitive function he had before the collision, he is now at a point where he can start to live a more independent life.
