Medical Negligence

Our Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence team entered a team for this event, which was held on 16 April 2024 in aid of Wessex Cancer Support

Spoiler alert – we didn’t win the quiz! We are trying to recover from the disappointment of losing out on first place by 1 point. For any interested parties, there is no white-coloured ring on the Olympic flag – what were we thinking?

However, in true Olympic style, it was the taking part that mattered. The quiz was a great opportunity to get together with other lawyers in the area and to support a fantastic charity, Wessex Cancer Support.

Lester Aldridge has previously supported this charity by participating in its annual Cakes for Cancer fundraiser, so we were keen to get involved with the quiz night and raise more vital funds.

Wessex Cancer Support envisions a future where everyone in the Wessex area has access to personalised support that empowers them to live well with and beyond cancer. Last night, we heard moving and uplifting stories about how the charity was helping people living with a cancer diagnosis access support tailored to their individual needs and treatment that can enhance their quality of life.

At Lester Aldridge, our Clinical Negligence team works with clients who have a cancer diagnosis that, perhaps, was not diagnosed soon enough or the required treatment was not provided when it should have been. A cancer diagnosis is devastating, but this is made worse if it could have been avoided or with a timely diagnosis and correct treatment, the outcome would have been better. This sometimes, tragically, can include diagnoses which are life-limiting and should not be. In those circumstances, we can help by pursuing a claim for potential medical negligence.

Our team are professional, approachable and highly skilled at what we do. We believe in providing our clients with clear, transparent advice and getting the case done efficiently and effectively. We support our clients, ensuring that making a claim is stress-free, leaving you to concentrate on living well.

Melanie Lidstone-Land, Senior Associate in the Clinical Negligence team, says:

“Cancer is a disease that affects 1 in 2 of usThe most important thing I can do as a lawyer is to assist people who find themselves with a diagnosis that they think could have been avoided. I have succeeded in many claims for late diagnosis of cancer and other life-limiting illness and always approach these cases with meticulous consideration of medical records, putting together the right team of experts as quickly as possible and with support and empathy for my clients.”
